Last August, almost one year ago to date, our community experienced an event that challenged us like never before, at least in recent memory. The Flood of 2016 continues to have a far reaching impact on what we do and how we live. But as the days go by, the memories of this event become more and more crowded with pictures of courage, faith, and hope rather than that of tragedy.

Michelle Savoy, a teacher from Galvez Middle School in Prairieville, Louisiana joined educators from across the nation for the LiftOff Summer Institute at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas last week. This program, sponsored by NASA’s Texas Space Grant Consortium, selects teachers from across the U.S. who will increase their knowledge of space education through this professional development summer Institute.
