ASCENSION PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL REMAIN CLOSED THURSDAY, JAN. 18, 2018

Due to the high potential for hazardous road conditions, Ascension Public Schools will remain closed on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018. Emergency officials do not expect conditions to improve until late morning on Thursday. Twelve-month employees are instructed to be on-call and be prepared to report as directed by supervisors once road conditions improve toward mid-day.
“The winter weather brought unprecedented road closures to our area. Although the temperatures will allow for some thaw today, it will not eliminate the moisture, and another hard freeze this evening may cause unsafe travel conditions,” said Superintendent David Alexander. “As always, it is a difficult decision to close schools as our mission is education, but our highest priority is safety.”
With temperatures expected to climb on Thursday, Ascension Public Schools plans to resume normal operations on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018. However, confirmation of that decision will not be made until late afternoon on Thursday.
All official decisions will be posted on our website, www.apsb.org.
