Dear Ascension Public Schools Family,

I am happy to report that Ascension Public Schools will be recommended for international accreditation by AdvancED. An external review team completed a visit this week and affirmed the hard work of our students, our Ascension Parish School Board, district and school level staff, and the Ascension Parish community. In fact, the lead evaluator said our work is leading other schools and systems in the world.

Please join us in celebrating this significant accomplishment!
As expected, we did not make today’s targeted completion date for temporary campuses, but we do have progress to report.
The big news is that we have scheduled the Fire Marshal inspection for the temporary section of St. Amant High’s campus on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017.
A Fire Marshal inspection schedule is a major milestone in a construction program because behind a successful inspection is the transition back to campus. We will have to await the outcome of St. Amant High’s inspection before we can announce a move-in date, but we are getting very close.
We also want to inform you that we encountered an obstacle at Galvez Middle involving electrical connections. We are taking steps to minimize that setback, but know that any obstacle at this point could create additional delays.
At all other campuses, expected progress took place this week including installation of technology. By early next week, we should have substantial completion of classroom technology including projectors and smart boards in every classroom.
For more detailed information, please refer to our Campus Status Report webpage, which we are continuing to update, as well as messages from your principal.
As always, we are grateful for your patience and understanding and are anxious to get all schools back to single sites.
