Dear Ascension Public Schools Family,

Every year, our district produces a Report to the Community, which is our way of keeping you informed about what is taking place in our school system. This year's report will be included in Thursday's editions of The Advocate, Donaldsonville Chief and Gonzales Weekly. We hope you find this report a helpful review of a very eventful school year. From challenges to accomplishments, it reminds us of all that we have to be thankful for, proud of, and opportunities for the future.

Now that St. Amant High School is back on its campus, all eyes are on our remaining flood impacted schools. As of today, all modular buildings and walkways are substantially complete at Galvez Primary, Galvez Middle and Lake Elementary. Furniture is being delivered this week, and the final steps are to connect electricity and schedule inspections.

Electrical connections should be complete this week at Galvez Primary and Lake Elementary. We are in the process of scheduling Fire Marshal inspections on both campuses. Upon the completion of a successful Fire Marshal inspection, we will announce move-in dates. Due to the extended holiday weekend, Galvez Primary and Lake Elementary should expect an announcement before the end of the day on Tuesday, Feb. 28, regarding a move-in date following the holidays. Additionally, we will announce a date for St. Amant Primary's move of PreK through second grades from G.W. Carver Primary to the old RPCC campus.

As there were obstacles around electrical work at Galvez Middle, we are trying to schedule a Fire Marshal inspection at that site for the week of Mar. 6, 2017. Again, following a successful inspection, we will announce a move-in date. These details will continue to be updated on our Campus Status Report webpage.
Please take some time to enjoy your family and friends during the Mardi Gras holiday weekend. It is a good time to celebrate what we have overcome in the last six months and prepare for the last stretch of the 2016-17 school year. We are #AscensionStrong - a great place to go to school, and a great place to work.
