STATE FINALIST FOR STUDENT OF THE YEAR: On Wednesday, April 5, Dutchtown Middle eighth-grader Aubrey Green (center) was recognized as a finalist for Louisiana Middle School Student of the Year. She also received an official commendation from the Louisiana House of Representatives authored by Rep. Tony Bacala (pictured far right).

The Lake Elementary Cheerleaders competed in the 2017 Universal Cheerleaders Association National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando Florida on February 11th and 12th.  The Lion Cheerleaders won 3rd Place in the Junior High Non-Tumbling Division and 3rd Place in the Junior High Game Day Division and were in 1st place going into finals for the Game Day competition.  This was the first time in the school's history and the first middle school squad in Ascension Parish to attend a national cheerleading championship.  The squad is made up of 7th and 8th graders and is led by coaches Ellyn Braud, Britne' Edmonston and Madeline Kelly.

BUSINESS OWNER DONATES UNIFORMS
Capri Buie (pictured left) donated school uniforms to Ascension Public Schools this week. Buie collected donations during the grand opening of her new boutique, Glam Couture, located on Hwy. 42 in Prairieville.
