Ascension Parish School Board Cooking Jambalaya for Teacher/Staff Appreciation

Gonzales, La. – Teachers and staff at the 27 Ascension Public Schools will be treated to jambalaya on Thursday, May 11, 2017, courtesy of the Ascension Parish School Board and sponsors Doerle Food Services, LLC and Capitol City Produce. Part of Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, the jambalaya will be prepared at the Jambalaya Festival Association (JFA) Kitchen by the 2013 World Champion and 2016 World Champion of Champions (and school board member) Scott Duplechein.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our school board members to give back," said Ascension Parish School Board President Patricia Russo. "I am really happy and excited that we can treat our teachers and staff for everything they do throughout the year."

Over 2,000 employees will enjoy the lunch treat at their respective schools.

Capitol City Produce is donating onions and Doerle is donating rice and trays. The remaining costs are being covered by personal donations by the following school board members:
  • Patricia Russo, President,
  • Taft Kleinpeter, Vice President,
  • Robyn Penn Delaney,
  • Scott Duplechein,
  • Julie Blouin,
  • Kerry Diez,
  • John Murphy,
