Donaldsonville Schools to Host Christmas in the Park

Donaldsonville, La. – All four Ascension Public Schools in Donaldsonville will host Christmas in the Park this Saturday following the Donaldsonville Christmas Parade. This free community event will include crafts and activities for kids, a snow machine, food, performances, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus and toy giveaways.

WHAT: Christmas in the Park, a free community event hosted by Donaldsonville Primary, Lowery Elementary, Lowery Middle and Donaldsonville High schools 
WHEN: 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016
WHERE: Louisiana Square, 300 Railroad Avenue, Donaldsonville, LA 70346

PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

1:45 p.m. - Mayor: Proclamation; Presentation to Mr. Marquette; Prize for Best Float
2:00 p.m. - Donaldsonville High Band and Dance Team
2:10 p.m. - Officer Mike Brooks
2:20 p.m. - The Church, Liturgical Dancers

2:35 p.m. - Expect the Fresh
3:00 p.m. - Lowery Middle School Choir
3:10 p.m. - Toy Distribution

  • Spanish Lake Primary Principal Britton Colon was a semifinalist for 2017 Louisiana Principal of the Year
  • Dutchtown High teacher Brenden Simoneaux won the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
  • Ascension Public Schools earned the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fourth consecutive year. Ascension is one of only two school districts in Louisiana to achieve this honor.
