Dear Ascension Public Schools Family,

As we enter the Easter Holidays, I want to thank all of our students, teachers, staff, parents and the community for making a very challenging year, a successful one for Ascension Parish. When we return from the holidays, there will be many important events taking place including state testing for third through eighth graders and end-of-course testing for high school students. In addition, our Class of 2017 commencement exercises will be right around the corner in May.

I would be remiss if I did not give you an update on our continued flood recovery efforts. The transition of all schools back to a single site has gone well. Ongoing efforts to restore our buildings are underway, and architects have completed their work and contractors are assigned for St. Amant Primary and St. Amant Middle schools. More information about restoration for our other schools will be shared following the holidays.

We hope everyone has an opportunity to spend time with their family and friends during this break, get some much-needed rest and create lasting memories. We want you all to be refreshed and recharged as we head into the final weeks of the 2016-17 school year. We particularly wish all students well as they close out their academic year and look forward to celebrating the many milestones that will take place in the last weeks of school.

Sincerely,

David Alexander
Superintendent
