Important Next Steps in Flood Recovery

Dear Ascension Public Schools Family,
Significant strides in our recovery have been made over the last several weeks: Galvez Primary, Lake Elementary, St. Amant Primary and St. Amant High successfully reunited their respective students and staff on single sites; temporary band halls at Lake Elementary, St. Amant Middle and St. Amant High are installed, inspected and will soon be filled with music; and we are very close to moving out of our last remaining host situation with Galvez Middle on Central Middle's campus.

The Fire Marshal inspection of temporary buildings on Galvez Middle's campus is scheduled for this Friday, Mar. 10, 2017. If that inspection is successful, Galvez Middle will move back to its campus on Monday, Mar. 13, 2017. Please remember, an official decision must wait until we receive final approval from the Fire Marshal on Friday. We will send out a message either late Friday or early Saturday to Galvez Middle parents with a final decision on Monday's move, which will trigger movement of teacher classroom materials over the weekend.

We look forward to celebrating the return of the Pirates to their home campus and bringing attention to the work being done to restore all flooded facilities. Just this week, the Ascension Parish School Board approved a construction bid to repair St. Amant Primary, and architects are wrapping up the design of our other flooded schools, which will result in more construction bids. Once construction begins at each school, we should have an estimated completion date to communicate.

Progress is being made at every level, and we are so thankful for your continued support.
