Ribbon Cutting of Prairieville Middle School
Ascension Public Schools celebrated Prairieville Middle School's $15 million construction of a new 66,000-square-foot building with 34 classrooms, a computer lab, the school library and administrative offices. The next phase will be to construct a new gymnasium on the campus.

Louisiana Middle School Student of the Year Finalist
The Ascension Parish School Board recognized Dutchtown Middle student Aubrey Green for becoming a finalist for Louisiana Middle School Student of the Year. Green will compete against top eighth grade students in the state later this spring.

Occupation: Business Development Manager for U.S. Foods and a photographer with Kleinpeter Photography

Interesting Fact: An avid outdoorsman, Kleinpeter frequently spends the weekends either on the river or in the woods with his wife Ashley. In fact, at age three his photo was published in the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate for catching a four-pound bass.
Tonight, the Board recognized district winners of the annual Louisiana School Boards Association student art contest: Dutchtown Primary fifth grader Myleey Radar, Galvez Middle sixth grader Molly Fruchez, and St. Amant High freshman Brett Allen. In addition to serving as a district winner, Myleey Radar placed second in the state competition for K-5 grades. Her artwork will be displayed in the LSBA office for a year.
Please note, separate press releases will be issued for the 2018 Teachers and Principals of the Year honored at tonight's meeting, as well as the new principal for Lake Elementary, Jeremy Muse.

The Board holds regularly scheduled public meetings on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Tuesday of every month (except for holidays). The 1st and 4th Tuesday meetings are held at the School Board Office in Donaldsonville. The 3rd Tuesday meeting is held at the Ascension Parish Courthouse in Gonzales.
