St. Amant, La. – Ascension Public Schools will hold a ribbon cutting for newly restored buildings at St. Amant Primary School (SAPS) and St. Amant Middle School (SAMS). The two schools, which share a campus, were flooded in August 2016, along with Galvez Primary, Galvez MIddle, Lake Elementary and St. Amant High schools. During the ceremony, Ascension will debut its one-year anniversary documentary about the flood

DETAILS: Ascension Public Schools will debut its documentary about the flood during the ceremony, and the St. Amant Middle cheerleaders will perform.
Although SAMS was able to stay on its campus, several buildings including the cafeteria, back gym and band hall, were flooded. SAPS has been displaced since the flood and is the last flooded school in Ascension to return to its campus, although it will be the first fully restored school. The other four displaced schools returned to their campuses last spring in temporary buildings. Lake Elementary's restoration construction is currently bidding, and the other schools are finishing the design phase.
