PotashCorp Donates $30,000 to G.W. Carver Primary
Gonzales, La. – Representatives from PotashCorp - Geismar recently surprised the staff at G.W. Carver Primary School with a $30,000 check to purchase laptops for teachers to use in the classroom.
"We appreciate the ongoing commitment Potash has to our school community. This donation is particularly exciting as it will allow us to purchase laptops for our Pre-K through second grade classrooms. The laptops will enhance our curriculum and expose our youngest students to skills necessary to be college and career ready," said G.W. Carver Primary Principal Latatia Johnson.
"It is a continuing goal of PotashCorp to be a responsible member of our communities. By supporting projects and initiatives that reflect the goals and values of our company, we strive to improve the quality of life in the areas where we work and live," said PotashCorp Human Resources Manager Garry Hiebert.
Last year, PotashCorp donated around $550,000 to the local community in support of its six areas of priority:
- Food and security,
- Education and training,
- Community building,
- Heath and wellness,
- Environmental stewardship, and
- Arts and culture.
