Coordinated Funding Request - CALL for public comment

The Ascension Parish Community Network was established in order to unify our early childhood system and improve kindergarten readiness for children. The network consists of public preschool and qualifying private child care centers within Ascension Parish. The Ascension Parish School System serves as the Lead Agency for the network and holds the responsibility of submitting the Coordinated Funding Request on behalf of the Community Network.  The request is limited to the funding sources for which the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) has oversight and reflects the choices of families within the community.

On February 7, 2020 the Ascension Parish School System will submit a Coordinated Funding Request on behalf of the Ascension Parish Community Network to the Louisiana Department of Education requesting  26 additional pre-k seats for the 2020 - 2021 school year making the total LA4 funded seats 146.      This request is being made based on the demand and ability to fill requested seats during the current funding year.

Chapter 709, Bart B of Bulletin 140 states that, “The Lead Agency shall provide an opportunity for each publicly funded program in the community network and the general public in the coverage area of the community network to comment on the proposed funding request prior to submission to the department and shall include documentation of this process in the funding request.”   The public is invited to make comments on the proposed 2020-2021 Early Childhood Coordinated Funding Plan.  Written comments may be mailed, faxed or delivered to the Ascension Parish School Board or emailed to AscensionEarlyChildhood@apsb.org.
